How to play the Left Right Christmas Game
What You Need
- 1 wrapped gift per player. You can also have fewer gifts if you want to limit the number of gifts in rotation. You may also set a price range for gifts so all of them are of similar value.
- A holiday-themed left-right story (filled with the words “left” and “right” throughout). We’ve got you covered with four separate stories to choose from!
- A group of players seated in a circle or in some array where they can hand gifts off to each other.
How to Play the left right Christmas game
- Make the Circle
- Have all left right game players sit in a circle, each with one wrapped gift.
- Read the Story
- Choose someone to read one of the printable left right Christmas game stories aloud. This story is annoyingly littered with the words “LEFT” and “RIGHT” throughout. Every time the reader says “LEFT,” everyone passes their gift to the person on their left. When “RIGHT” is mentioned, players pass the gift to the person on their right.
- Follow the Directions
- Players must listen carefully and move the gift in the correct direction each time “LEFT” or “RIGHT” is mentioned. If the words are mentioned back-to-back (like “left, right, right”), the gift must be passed that many times in quick succession.
- End of the Story
- When the story ends, everyone keeps the gift that they are holding. If you’re using a single gift instead of one for each person, the player holding the gift at the end of the story gets to keep it. Let’s hope it’s a good one.
Left right Christmas game variations
- Single Gift Game: Instead of each person holding a gift, only one gift is passed around. The person holding it at the end wins the prize.
- Multiple Gifts in Play: Have 2-3 gifts being passed around the circle at once for extra chaos and fun!
