If you’re looking to add some extra magic to your holiday tradition, these elf on the Shelf printable letters are a fantastic way to enhance the Christmas experience for your kids.

These pre-designed elf on the shelf letter templates include a fun and festive message from the elf, including an arrival letter, announcement template, elf on the shelf goodbye letter, and elf rules. These printable letters save time for busy parents while keeping the magic alive.
Free printable elf on the shelf arrival letter

This welcome letter is left by the elf when they first arrive. The purpose is to introduce the elf, explain their purpose, and encourage kids to be on their best behaviour.
I’ve provided two letters in this pack. One includes a pre-written letter from an elf called Peppermint. Peppermint explains in their letter how they behave and some of the rules of elf on the shelf engagements. There’s also a blank version in case you’d like to personalize your own letter, penning a note out by hand.
Elf on the shelf rules letter

Also available as both a prefilled list and a blank sheet for you to write in your own rules, the elf on the shelf rules sheet reminds children of the elf’s rules, such as no touching (or else the elf will lose their magic) and behaving to stay on Santa’s nice list.
Elf on the shelf important announcement (special occasion) letter

This one is for any special announcements from your elf. You might use it to play games or to cover mistakes. For instance perhaps you had a little too much to drink last night and you forgot to move the Elf, in which case they can leave a letter saying they were so exhausted from the party that they took a night off.
You can also use this template for creative and fun notes, such as a letter explaining why the elf got caught in flour while “baking cookies.”
Elf on the shelf goodbye letter

On Christmas Eve you’ll want to leave a farewell note from your elf. There are two options here: a pre written note and a blank template for you to write your own. The former includes statements about enjoying your time together and that they will return next Christmas.
These letters make the Elf on the Shelf experience more interactive and magical for kids!
